Bespoke Jewellery Common Questions

Below are some questions we regularly cover with our customers. If you have any other questions you'd like to ask us, simply get in touch.

What types of bespoke jewellery can you make?

We make all types of custom fine jewellery, from bespoke wedding rings and bespoke engagement rings to cufflinks & objects d'art. Whatever your idea, we can realise it.

How long does a bespoke appointment take?

Initial consultations and follow up appointments can be booked for up to 45 minutes. Pick up appointments take only about 15 minutes and may involve final finishes and adjustments.

How much does a piece of bespoke jewellery cost?

Bespoke jewellery commissions start at £500, but the overall cost very much depends on the design and materials you want to use. If you have a budget in mind, we can work to it and advise what is possible. Before proceeding, we will always agree a price with you.

How long does it take to design a piece of bespoke jewellery?

It very much depends on your ideas and the complexity of the design. A unique wedding band will usually take less time to design than a bespoke engagement ring with multiple stones for example. A simple design may only require hand drawn sketches, whereas a more involving project may require CAD designs and models. We recommend leaving as much time as possible for your project, but will always do our best to meet a shorter deadline.

How long does it take to make a piece of bespoke jewellery?

Usually about 4-8 weeks depending on the complexity of the design. Once the design has been agreed, we can advise on delivery dates. Should you have a specific date that you need your bespoke jewellery by, we recommend that you let us know at the outset so we can advise you about timescale.

Do you use ethically sourced materials?

All James Newman bespoke jewellery is designed and hand crafted in house, using ethically sourced gemstones and precious metals, where possible, from the local area, significantly reducing our carbon footprint. We are a close knit team who care about the environment, our employees and customers. It is our aim to make conscious ethical choices and be a force for good within the jewellery industry. You can read more about our sustainability & environmental policy here.

Can inherited jewellery be used to make a new piece of bespoke jewellery?

Yes it can. If you have inherited jewellery, we will first assess it and advise on the quality of materials and what might be possible. You can then choose to reuse your heirloom materials in a bespoke design.
